Double Drum Draw works, 1000 horsepower capacity with a 62,000- lb. single line pull on a bare drum in 1ST gear. Innovative drive design eliminates all live chains, reduces moving parts, and reduces weight. All Manufacturer draw works meet or exceed API recommendation for design criteria and are engineered to meet a minimum 4: 1 safety factor.

All draw works bearings; seals and chains are off-the-shelf items and may be purchased directly from the factory or from parts distributors worldwide.

DRAWWORKS FRAME

The DD1000B frame is a mild steel structure utilizing 2 x 3 structural material and one-piece ½ in. draw works side plates. Side plates are a one-piece design to increase draw works rigidity and aid in providing an excellent chain case seal.

DRUMS

Draw works drums are dynamically balanced to ensure smooth running. Wide barrel design prevents line interference when running double fast line. Manufacturer’s exclusive spool drum design reduces drum shaft flex and weight while increasing total strength. Tubing drum has LEBUS grooving with turn back and kick plates to reduce line wear and assist in spooling.

BRAKE SYSTEM

Hardened steel one-piece brake flanges, hard surfaced at 52-54 Rockwell and ground smooth, brake mechanisms are mechanical self- energizing style bands with API drilled brake blocks.

Brake bands feature roller adjusting band return, single point hydraulic brake band adjustment, and asbestos brake blocks.

All movement points have bronze bushings for long life and ease of maintenance.

Brake flanges are water circulating cooled.

ASSIST BRAKE

The disk assist system is comprised of a 60” (18.2cm) diameter, air- cooled, ductile iron brake disk and an air-actuated brake caliper with dual brake pads.

The disk is directly coupled to the drum shaft via a billet steel adapter and surrounded by an expanded metal cover. This design provides excellent assist brake control and the added security of a true backup brake in the event of an emergency.

DRUM CLUTCH

18 in. (45.72 cm) “hi-torque” style air clutch mounted outboard of draw works frame and chain case. Mounted on lower out-put shaft.

Manufacturer’s exclusive use of the clutch on the lower shaft reduces required clutch size, air requirements and eliminates any live chains.

CHAIN DRIVES

Diamond 160 chains, oil bathed for long life. Chain is fully enclosed in a one-piece chain case with a 3/8 in. thick gasket flange. The design prevents case leakage due to warping.

Access panel provides for chain maintenance and removal without removing the chain case.

POWER DRIVE

The DD1000B right angle box utilizes a commercially manufactured

20” gear set. The gear set is mounted in a fabricated steel box and centrally located in the draw works frame.

The package is rated for a maximum input of 1000-hp. Manufacturer’s design allows right angle box to be serviced with “off-the-shelf” components.

DRAWWORKS CONTROLS

Main drum control including brake lever, clutch control, gear selector, engine throttle, and emergency shutdown are located on the operators console at the rear of the rig.

Console is conveniently located for excellent visibility and operator comfort.

The sand drum controls include brake lever; clutch, engine throttle and emergency shutdown and are located on the draw works frame for excellent drum visibility and operator comfort.

LUBRICATION

Single-point bearing lubrication with return lines. Lubrication system ensures complete lubrication of main drum bearings.

Return lines for grease provides for visual confirmation of complete lubrication.

Lubrication point is conveniently located outside the draw works frame for ease of maintenance.

AUXILIARY HOIST

Hydraulic “worm gear” style hoist mounted of the rig deck. Hoist capacity is 15,000 lbs. (6.8 MT) and comes with air-over-hydraulic controls internal braking system and 250’ (76 m) of ½ in. wire line

TELESCOPING MAST

OVERALL

A telescoping derrick with open face derrick design, manufactured to

API 4-F specifications.

The open face design utilizes a structural design, which allows for maximum block clearance.

Derrick includes a ladder from rig floor to crown and a block cradle with chain & hook for securing block during transport. Includes crown block protector, crown saver and Geronimo escape device.

BASE SECTION

Four Leg style base section hinged to carrier frame. (2) Turnbuckles attached from top of derrick base to carrier frame allow for mast angle adjustment.

The well-side derrick legs have manual screw jacks to steady rig while derrick is raised.

LOWER SECTION

Rectangular tubing construction with main legs and “C” braces; lower section of mast hinges to top of derrick base and rests on headache rack during transport.

UPPER SECTION

Rectangular tubing construction; rests inside lower section until mast is raised. Upper section then extends upward from lower section and locks in place with automatic latching pins.

CROWN BLOCK

Crown block is set up for a 6 or 8 line string-up. Crown sheaves are grooved for 1-1/8 in. wire line. All sheaves are mounted on tapered roller bearings with grease zerts for ease of maintenance.

 

RACKING BOARD

The derrick includes an all welded racking board. The racking board automatically deploys as the derrick is extended.

Tubing board height is adjustable and includes adjustable fingers for end racking of tubing.

DERRICK RAISING SYSTEM

The derrick utilizes two, 3-stage, double acting raising rams and a single, two-stage scooping cylinder.

Raising and scooping controls are located near the operator’s console for easy access and operation.

Hydraulic pressure gauges are mounted on the driller’s console to provide system monitoring during the raising / lowering process.

The hydraulic system incorporates a safety choke system to prevent pressure loss to scooping or raising cylinders due to a hydraulic line rupture or damage.

GUYLINES

Derrick includes (2) load guys from the crown to carrier.

NOTE: While additional wind guys are recommended for safe rig operation, these are not offered as standard equipment on this rig due to the wide variety of configurations use in the oilfield. Please provide your specifications and we will quote separately.

DEADLINE ANCHOR

Deadline anchor is designed and manufactured in accordance with

API specifications and rated for a 60,000-lbs. maximum deadline load. Located on off operators side of rig floor and comes with line clamp and provisions for load cell weight indicator.

STAND PIPE

4” steel stand pipe, double stand height mounted to lower section of derrick.

Standpipe rated to 5,000 PSI (340 ATM).

Standpipe includes 4” (10.16 cm) gooseneck on top and 4” (10.16 cm)

hammer unions on top and bottom.

Standpipe includes a type-4 mud pressure gauge.

HYDRAULIC CATWORKS

The cat work system is comprised of (2) hydraulic cylinders mounted to the top of the lower derrick section.

System includes all hydraulic controls and line guide rollers.

The makeup cylinder has 96 in. (2.4 m) of travel and provides 18,881

ft. lbs. of torque.

The breakout cylinder has 48 in. (1.2 m) of travel and provides 29,450

ft. lbs. of breakout torque.

POWER PLANT & TRANSMISSION

ENGINE DESCRIPTION

(2) CATERPILLAR C-15, 6 cylinders, 4-stroke turbo charged, after- cooled engines rated at 500 hp. at 2,100 rpm.

Engines include a DONALDSON dry-type air cleaner; a full 6” exhaust system with mufflers and spark arrestors.

Exhaust system discharges to right side of rig.

Engines also come with emergency shutdown system.

Engines include a heavy-duty desert service radiator, fan, and desert air filters engine speed governor, air-actuated throttle, standard engine instruments, emergency shutdown for low oil and high coolant temperature, and an emergency shutdown button.

TRANSMISSION DESCRIPTION

(2) Allison CLT754 automatic transmission provides 5 forward speeds and 1 reverse.

Remote shifting is provided from the operators console and cab via an electronic shifting system.

Transmission comes with OEM oil cooler installed.

All engine / transmission combinations are reviewed and approved by the transmission manufacturer for correct engineering, installation, and engine compatibility.

Manufacturer’s exclusive design allows for the removal of engine, transmission, or transfer case independently.

TRANSFER CASE

Commercially produced gear driven transfer case. 2 in 3 out configuration, rated for 1100 net input horsepower.

 

Transfer case distributes power to draw works and carrier.

Includes air activated disconnects for selection of road / winch gear.

AIR, ELECTRIC, AND HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS

AIR SYSTEM

(2) Engine driven 16.5-cfm compressor pressurizing a 4-tank air system plumbed in accordance with applicable DOT regulations and requirements.

Check valves prevent accidental air pressure loss from system due to single line failure.

Main airs lines are plumbed with OEM style steel airlines and compression fittings rather than threaded pipe.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

12-volt electrical system consisting of (2) 60 amp alternators, (6) 120

series batteries, (2) 12V Starters and voltmeter

Batteries are located in a sealed steel battery box mounted on the carrier deck. Location of box provides excellent access for maintenance and service.

HYRAULIC SYSTEM

70 Gallon per minute system provides 2,000 psi. working pressure for all rig hydraulics and accessory drives.

Manufacturer utilizes a current technology “load sensing” pump, and an open loop hydraulic system is utilized. This system reduces heat generation and increases efficiency.

The load-sensing pump is mounted in front of the rig engine and is directly coupled to the engine crankshaft, and this is an exclusive Manufacturer feature.

Hydraulic system incorporates a 150-gallon hydraulic tank with filters, suction strainer, main tank shutoff, and temperature gauge.

TONG CIRCUIT

Rig hydraulic system provides a 2000 PSI / 50 GPM tong circuit. The system includes connectors, pressure & return lines, pressure gauge, directional flow valve, and pressure regulator valve.

Tongs are not included as standard equipment.

AXLE CARRIER

OVERALL

The carrier is a heavy-duty 7-axle oilfield carrier with four front steering axles, and three rear-driving axles.

All frame members coped and welded for superior strength and durability.

The carrier is designed for maximum maneuverability, road clearance and turning radius.

Location of axles specially is engineered to correctly distribute weight in proportion to front and rear axles.

CARRIER FRAME

21” (6.4m) wide-flange alloy H-beam, hand welded for strength.

Coped cross members for increased strength and durability.

Front and rear tow lugs are welded to the end of the frame rails for proper load distribution during towing.

Frame is decked in 3/16 in. diamond tread decking with a 3 in. (7.6

cm) lip for strength and reduced flex.

FRONT AXLES

Steer able front triple axle set is rated at 20,000 lbs. per axle and

REYCO front spring suspension rated at 22,000 lbs per axle.

REAR DRIVING AXLES

EATON 462 Series rear driving axles rated at 46,000 lbs. HENDRICKSON walking beam rear suspension. Standard rear end ratio is 5.43:1

BRAKE SYSTEM

DOT approved regulation air brake system.

Drum style brakes on all axles.

Carrier is equipped with additional air emergency brake.

TIRES & WHEELS

The (8) six front tires are 425/65 R22.5 wide-base tires mounted on 13

in. x 22.5 in. steel hub-piloted “bud” type wheel.

The (12) twelve rear tires are 425/65 R22.5 off-road tires mounted on

8 in. x 22.5 in. hub-piloted steel “bud” style wheels.

CAB

Single person cab set up for left-hand drive (right hand available). Cab is equipped with air suspension seat, heater, defroster, windshield wiper, air horn, West Coast mirrors, and full instrumentation.

Instrumentation consists of speedometer, oil pressure, transmission oil temperature, water temperature, voltmeter, fuel meter, and front &

rear air pressure gauges.

STEERING

Rig steering provides fully hydraulic steering of the front axles.

Hydraulic steering cylinders are mounted on the steering axles.

RIG LEVELING SYSTEM

Rig leveling is done with (6) hydraulic leveling jacks with locks. The jacks are controlled from the operator’s console.

A twin bubble-leveling gauge is provided to assure quick easy rig angle information.

OTHER EQUIPMENT

The 6-axle carrier comes complete with rig stairs, fold-down walk ways, and OSHA approved guardrails, driveline covers, 2 locking toolboxes, twin 125-gallon fuel tanks, and twin junk racks.

ROTARY SYSTEM

ROTARY

Standard system includes a torque-tube rotary drive system, drivelines, hoses, clutch, and rotary boxes.

The chain riser has a provision for a rotary torque indicator (indicator not included).

The rotary is driven from the compounding gearbox via drivelines above the rig deck to the rear of rig.

Standard system is set up for an 18 in. (5.5 m) rotary table height.

 

CONTROLS

All drilling controls are mounted in driller’s console located at rear of rig on operator’s platform.

Controls include: Engine and transmission controls, (2) mud pumps, rotary speed controls, and tubing drum operations

 

 

ACCESSORIES & TOOLS

 

SUBSTRUCTURE SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

The substructure is a cantilevered system, which is raised with the rig blocks. The unit is designed for easy transport and fast rig up.

The substructure includes rig ramp, folding work platforms, v-door, setback area, and rig stairs.

 

The substructure is manufactured in accordance with all applicable

API specifications and criteria.

The substructure is elevated via (1) winch cable and is pinned in final position.

 

The cylinders are operated from the rig hydraulics.

The substructure has folding wings that are pinned into place to provide support for the non-guyed mast.

Substructure is designed to accommodate all popular sizes of rotary tables.
